So the Pasadena Pageant, eh? I think it's a complete scam now. Or if it weren't, it just wouldn't be a good pageant, a proper pageant. I was researching on information about the company itself (Nationals, Incorporated) and this Anna Klejnowski. None of this seemed to make sense. I googled the address of the business, which is 1951 Shenango Valley Freeway, Suite 2 South. Hermitage, PA. It all seemed too fishy. No talent portion... no swimsuit portion... As I was google-ing all these things about the pageant, I read blogs saying stuff like it's a scam (from personal experience), this Anna Klejnowski person doesn't exist, it's all about money, etc etc. And it all started to make sense.
On Yahoo answers, I found, "our daughter entered and was thoroughly heart broken. She was promised cash, prizes, college scholarships and a wonderful trip to the finals if she won. The entire pageant was about MONEY. Who spent the most on their gown, who had the most sponsors, etc. The program didn't even have the list of sponsors next to her name like advertised. All she got for her efforts was a gift certificate for their particular modeling school. This was supposed to boost her self confidence and all it did was ruin it!"
And on some blog, I read, "Unfortunately, my niece entered the cleveland pageant and what a horrible experience. At 14, it was a real challenge coming up with the $495, then the dress, etc. She was so excited. The interview was suppose to be 5 minutes, she got less than 2. Some woman had a stop watch and messed up her time. We were told each contestant got some free tickets, but then were told we had to buy them for $20 each. She was there from 9:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.
When the pageant started, we sat right behind the judges. ALL of whom had NO experience in pageant judging. The coordinator kept going around explaining to them how to judge the girls. During the pageant, at least 4 of them left the auditorium during the pageant for periods of 5 to 20 minutes at a time. How can they judge the girls who were performing or answering questions if they werent even there?
There were 4 girls left to go in the MISS Teen q&a session when the judges passed their score cards to the girl handling the computer. How could u rate the last 4?
They picked top 10 in each division. What a joke. All the girls were onstage for the walk and q&a. So they knew who did good and who didnt. In the Jr. Teen top 10, 3 girls advanced that were horrile in there walk and 2 barely answered their question. Miss Photogenic Miss Teen was a joke. This girl submitted a professional photo, one taken of her 4 months ago. The photo didnt even resemble the girl on stage at the pageant. Parents questioned it, but no answers.
Miss congeniality was a real joke.
The girls were asked to pick one person, they didnt know each other at all, none had numbers on to pick from. They asked a few people what their numbers were and everyone picked that number? What is that about?
If u look at the brochure for the pageant, the girls who had the large number of sponsors ended up in the top 10. 2 of the pageant contestants were sponsored by two of the judges businesses they own?
Where was Anna? She never showed up. Thank god my niece is old enough that she didnt take it very hard although she did realize this was a joke. But some poor girls were crying their eyes out when we left.
Anna, dont go around telling young ladies this isnt a J Renee Ramsey pageant, its all about self esteem, self confidence, etc. If you were there to see what this pageant did to some of these girls, u wouldnt have the nerve to keep preaching that stuff.
These girls deserve their money back. All they got was a cheap piece of paper for their weeks of effort. Shame on you."
Heck. No. I am notttt joining this. I refuse to stress over money and sponsorships for something that is only about the money. If I were to join a pageant, I want to have entered MYSELF in it, because I still don't know who "referred" me. What kind of pageants send out letters of "referral" for advertisement? Scamscamscam. I will not be a part of something so lame.

oh my gosh, that's horrible.
Thanks very much for the timely info. We just got an invitation from the same organization, for the Santa Barbara Pageant, and I believe you've saved us lots of potential heartache. The world is tough enough.
Training class cost me $100.00 for the Phoenix Pageant. It all sounds so good. Too bad I found out late.
Hi,
Thank you very much for ur information. As usual i got an invitation for my daughter from the same organisation for the santa barbara pageant & i believed them & i enrolled my daughter's name in it.I have'nt seen ur information in the beggining before i enrolled her but i found out later this is a fake one.All they care is only the money, & also as u said some of the judges(may be 4 to 5 )took a break & left the room for 15 to 30 mins & the judges were some hair dresser, a male model etc.In the beggining Anna said that their may be some producers , film makers etc blah blah...... present in the pageant. But their is none whom we know or can recognize the judges.Anyway i feel sorry for my self & my husband that what we saved was lost in this pageant (1500).Though my daughter lost the pageant she got another invitation to participate in the Orlando pageant, As soon as i saw that i tore the paper in to many pieces. My advise is not to believe them & waste ur savings.
Thanks
Thank you so much for this information! I got a letter yesterday for the Denver pageant and my friends and I considered entering because we both got a letter but there is no way I will enter after hearing this. I can't believe people could actually get girls hopes up like this. It's terrible.
Just attended the info meeting in Cincinnti this week. Came home laughing. The initial invite letter starts out: "My name is Anna...." on it. No mention of last name. That was our first clue. Found her last name on some other posts online. She must have used her last name on the letters in the past but has recently stopped including it. I Googled her and am not seeing anything good at all. It appears this group has been doing this for years and no one has stopped them. We knew, going in, that it was a scam but wanted to see and hear the presentation based on all that we had read about this racket online via Google and Yahoo. The Better Business Bureau gives this company (Nationals, Inc) an "F". Why they are still even in existence is beyond me. I assume the people who end up allowing their kids to be sucked into this scam are the ones who do not have computers at home to Google this mess. Live and Learn.....Contact the BBB and put some commments out there people!
My daughter got the mail tonight and ran thru the door all excited, mom someone referred me to a pageant etc. Instantly I became skepticle. My daughter had previously been accepted by legit modeling agencies in Miami and NY, and sadly, several fake ones who tried to exploit her and money. The past experiences of unscrupulous agents left me very cautious, and when my daughter showed me the Nationals Miss Teen letter, I knew right away scam. Parents need to be very aware of these type scams, whether beauty pageants or modeling. There are literally hundreds of those who want nothing but your money. Sadly, when you realize this, the expense that is paid is the broken heart and dreams of your child, who dreams about being that star, beauty queen, model or making it big. sure you might be the mean mom or dad that "shattered my dreams" as your daughter might say when you toss the letter, but do what I did, show them the reports and tell them they are your star.

Like thousands of other unfortunate girls, I just got a letter too for Nationals Miss Teen Pasadena. JOKE JOKE JOKE. I've experienced a pageant like this before, and it only takes one time to open your eyes to a scam. Word of advice, when you google something and 50% of what you read is about how questionable something is, don't do it.
It's not some fake pageant that's going to lead everyone to a deserted house, but it's not worth the time, effort, money and letdown. They technically do everything they say they are, but every single area of the pageant is seriously lacking. Money is on their minds, and money is what they're going to get from all the families who actually go through with the process.
Like Diana said, you should put in a word at the BBB, it needs to be done.
I would like to add some optimism to this very pessimistic blog and say that I competed in the Miss Teen Pasadena Pageant, and had a wonderful expeirence. I received first runner up and overall Miss Photogenic.
I would like everyone to take into consideration that everything on this blog is hear say. Not an actual expierence. The photogenic compition has nothing to do with the standings of the rest of the compition and everyones photo is sent to several entertainment angencies that have no part in judging the rest of the show. I took my pictures a week before the pagent, its an option to participate in this area, but as the overall winner I received a John Casablanca Modeling Scholarship that night.
As for the missing bathingsuit portion they feel that young ladies shouldn't be judged by the look of their body. Especially living in a society where eating disorders and suicides are so common.
Id also like to say and point out that I received first runner up and had 5 sponsors, and there were several other girls that had much more than I did. The resons the Judges leave or pass in their papers early is because they all Judge different areas of the compition. Plain and simple.
This pagent shouldnt cost you dime unless you choose to partcipate in optional catagories. Or perchase a optional photo packet as a keepsake.
So as long as you get all of your sponsors it shouldn't cost you anything.
I'm almost positve that the people you are hearing scam stories from are parents who are upset there daughters didn't make it. We all like to blame others or be skeptical when we don't win. But before we rant about how its a scam maybe we should take the time to think about it to see if we are just upset with the outcome..
thanks for the info . cause my lawyer will be involved in this scam....i wonder is anna a real person too tho?

wow thats crazy because i just entered in the Denver pageant and they also want 495 but except this ladies name was nichole rochelle...i really want to do it but i also was kinda on the border about all that money they want from us and how every one that win will recieve a 2011 sports car....to good to be true wat is a 7 year old girl going to do with a car????scam...
my daughter got a letter and I am definitely not a paegant parent. We agreed as long as she raised her money. It is a lot to come up with. Long and the short of it was that she didn't raise anythng and our business sponsered her. We were the sole name on the program. Because I was so angry that she raised no money, she ended up wearing an old gown (about 40 years old) and her first day back to school clothes. She won her division much to my surprize. I do not think this paegant has anything to do with spending money on the clothes, but rather how the girls present themself. We are supposed to go to FLA we are looking forward to that
Hello. Im from GA. and i have gotten the same letter as well. but unfortunitly... i have already paid half of me and my sister payment which was $495 and i just found out of these SCAM. im trying to get my money returned to me but they are not picking up the phone. and now i am trying to send all these proofs to the police. so if its okay... can i get ur number through this email. blinktwicee@gmail.com thank you ^^
Wow, nice post, there are many person searching about that now they will find enough resources by your post
thank you so much for the info i was entered in miss teen 2012 and now that i know i will not go through with it.
thanks, octavia
i judged three of their city pageants...all with hundreds of contestants...i saw a clean operation with a real concern for those participating...judges are only resonsible for a certain age group so they don not have to be attentive when another age group is on stage...it costs $10,000.00 for TEEN USA...this is a bargain for the casual contestant....this whole article reeks of slander...they ought to go after the author for damages
does anyone here know if there is a way to actually get money back if you already paid?
I wonder if any of these girls have ever disappeared ... Very possibly a set up for pervy types to check out young girls .
